WITH the spooky season now upon us and the half-term horror of bored children looming, the Welwyn Hatfield Times has compiled a handy list of events to keep youngsters entertained until after the Halloween break.

Monday, October 28

* Playrangers session: Events organised by Welwyn Hatfield Council and run by Child UK. They are open to children aged six to 12. No booking is necessary – children can just turn up.

Children can join in with football, rounders, dodgeball and egg and spoon races, as well as camp-making. For children who like something more artistic, there are also arts, crafts and jewellery making.

When: 1pm-2.55pm.

Where: Roe Hill Playing Fields, Briars Lane, Hatfield.

* Also running Monday to Thursday at Newgate Street Village Hall, Newgate Street, SG13 8RA. 10.30am-12.25pm.

* And Monday to Thursday at North Mymms Youth and Community Centre, Station Road, Welham Green. 10.30am-12.25pm.

* Also at The Pavillion and Ottway Walk Playing Field, Ottway Walk, Welwyn. 1.30pm-3.25pm.

Tuesday, October 29

* Playrangers session

When: 1pm-2.55pm.

Where: De Havilland Grange, Cornflower Way, Hatfield.

* And at Digswell Playing Fields and Pavillion, Hertford Road, Digswell, between 1.30pm-3.25pm.

* Spooky workshop: Children above the age of four can enjoy workshops at Mill Green Museum, with pumpkin carving, Halloween decorations and lantern making.

When: The one hour sessions run at 10am, 11.15am, 1.15pm and 2.30pm.

Where: Mill Green Lane, Hatfield, Herts. £3 a child.

Wednesday, October 30

* Playrangers session

When: 1pm-2.55pm.

Where: Green Lanes School, Hatfield, Herts.

* Also at Woolmer Green Village Hall, Hall Lane, Woolmer Green. 1.30-3.25pm.

* Halloween Arts and Crafts workshop: Face painting, sand art and a pumpkin trail with prizes up for grabs.

This event has been organised by the Hatfield Town Team.

When: 1pm-3pm.

Where: White Lion Square, Hatfield.

Thursday, October 31

* Scary Day: The Welwyn Hatfield Times-backed event organised with the Welwyn Garden City Town Centre Partnership will be hosting a scary day at the Howard Centre, with spooky arts and crafts workshops run by the Housing Trust.

There will be scary face painting and monster treat bags from the Welwyn Hatfield Times.

Sports clubs will be also be on hand to introduce kids to sports and activities.

When: Runs between 10.30am-3.30pm.

Where: The Howard Centre, WGC.

* Playrangers session

When: 1pm-2.55pm.

Where: Moneyhole Lane Park, Sylvan Way, Panshanger, WGC.

* Also at The Pavillion and Ottway Walk Playing Field, Ottway Walk, Welwyn. 1.30pm-3.25pm.

* Spooky workshop: Children above the age of four can enjoy workshops at Mill Green Museum, with pumpkin carving, Halloween decorations and lantern making.

When: The one hour sessions run at 10am, 11.15am, 1.15pm and 2.30pm.

Where: Mill Green Lane, Hatfield, Hertfordshire. £3 a child.

* Family Halloween event: Halloween event with storytelling, crafts and games.

Fancy dress is optional but visitors are encouraged to join in with musical costume parade at the end of the evening.

When: 6pm-8pm.

Where: Mill Green Lane, Hatfield.

Friday, November 1

* Playrangers Session

When: 1pm-2.55pm.

Where: King George V Playing Fields, Beehive Lane, WGC.
