Hatfield is set to host several fun-filled events during a "jam-packed fortnight" of activities in the borough.

There will be numerous dance, sports and culture activities being held in August, including Animal Crackers, taking place on Friday, August 4 in White Lion Square, from 11am to 3pm.

Attractions on offer will include donkey rides, Ark Farm (a mobile farm), a falconry display, live animal handling, face painting and much more. Entry is free.

It will be followed by a Table Tennis Fiesta on Saturday, August 5, from 4pm to 6pm at Open Heavens Christian Centre in White Lion Square.

Residents are being encouraged to take part in the table tennis competition – the winner of which will receive a prize. Singles and doubles matches will be on offer and entry is free.

Then on Tuesday, August 8, the free Skateboards & Scooters event will take place in Market Place between 10.30am and 12.30pm, and then at Hatfield Skate Park between 12.30pm and 2.30pm.

Several other events will also be taking place throughout the town up to August 14.

Councillor Tony Kingsbury, executive member for policy and culture, said: “Following the success of Playday, we wanted to transform what was just one day of play into dozens of mini events for all ages at a wide range of locations.

“Many activities are free and some just ask for a small contribution towards running costs.

“It promises to be a jam-packed fortnight, and with various partners signed up and more than ten activities taking place on some days, there really is something for everyone.”
