A taster for this year's Hatfield House Chamber Music Festival takes place at the stately home next month.

The trustees of the festival, together with artistic director Guy Johnston, have announced a special concert to launch the 2015 event.

The concert will take place in the Marble Hall at Hatfield House on Thursday, March 26 at 7.30pm, by kind permission of Lord Salisbury.

Featuring Melvyn Tan on fortepiano, soprano Ruby Hughes and cellist Guy Johnston, it will be followed by a reception in the Hatfield House Armoury, where more will be revealed about the plans for September’s showcase and the artists involved.

The programme for the evening will include Beethoven’s Sonata No. 4 in C major for Cello and Piano, Op 102, No. 1, Bach’s Cello Suite No. 2 in D minor, Four Night Songs by Schubert and Beethoven’s 7 Variations on ‘God Save the King’ in C Major for Fortepiano.

BEETHOVEN: 7 Variations on ‘God Save the King’ in C Major for Fortepiano (1803)

Tickets cost £30, including a glass of wine post concert.
