QUALITY stand-up comedy is coming to Welwyn Garden City to cheer up the dull autumn evenings.
Funnymen from Barnstormers Comedy are launching a new series of shows at the Campus West later this month.
Already firmly established across the south of England as one of the biggest names in comedy promotion, Barnstormers Comedy prides itself on finding the funniest, cleverest and maybe even silliest comedians out there, and they’re usually Comedy Store regulars too.
The WGC shows will be held in the intimate surroundings of the Hawthorne Studio, also known as the council chamber.
Barnstormers’ Stephen Newberry said: “We are going to be running an initial series of three shows on the last Friday each month.
“All being well the shows will become a permanent fixture in the new year.”
Compere for the first night on Friday, September 24 will be Steve Allen.
The opening line-up includes sharp-witted exiled Cornishman Paul Kerensa, who writes for various sitcoms, including BBC1 hits Not Going Out and After You’ve Gone, as well as sketch shows such as Dead Ringers and BBC3’s The Wrong Door.
Also on the bill are erudite Irishwoman Mary Bourke and the uniquely talented Markus Birdman.
Tickets are available from the box office on 01707 357117 and are £10 in advance and £12 on the night.
Doors open at 7.30pm and the show starts at 8pm.
