Artists from across East Anglia are being invited to submit work for an annual open exhibition organised by University of Hertfordshire Galleries.
Now in its 15th year, Eastern Approaches celebrates the best art in the East of England and is regarded as one of the most prestigious open exhibitions in the region.
The exhibition is open to artists who live and work in Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Norfolk or Suffolk, and to students and alumni of the University of Hertfordshire, in Hatfield.
For the first time this year’s applications will be made via an online submission form and artworks will be selected from digital images, making it easier for artists from further afield to submit their work.
The deadline for entries is November 21, with the exhibition to be held at the Museum of St Albans from December 6 to January 11, 2015.
It will be judged by an independent panel, including the Hatfield-based university’s fine art programme leader Michael Wright.
The judges will select around 50 works to go on display.
One artist will win a solo exhibition with UH Galleries. Additional prizes will be awarded by sponsors of the exhibition.
Last year the exhibition received more than 250 entries, with Hatfield artist Katie Aggett taking first prize.
