SIR - With reference to the letter from Dr Drew Whitelegg regarding the flight from WGC of "passer domesticus" in recent months, I enclose a photograph taken in my garden a year or so ago showing a number of this species around the pond and fountain.

From my observations the common sparrow continues to visit my back garden as frequently as many of the other varieties such as the blackbird or the magpie.
