Sir - Further to the recent anonymous correspondence regarding young people's behaviour in the town centre of WGC. If young people want to be respected by their elders then they should start behaving like their elders.

The town centre of WGC looks like a battle ground every weekend. In the mornings after the night before, the town centre is covered in waste food, fast food containers, drinks cans and bottles etc. All this even though there are numerous waste bins scattered around.

All this caused by young persons "enjoying themselves" in the evenings.

In addition, the Coronation Fountain regularly has detergent emptied into it, generating considerable foam which blows all over the place. That is besides all the rubbish that gets put in it as well.

This then costs all council taxpayers £600 (I recall) for every time that the fountain is cleaned out.

What I cannot understand is why no-one is ever caught doing this even though there is a CCTV camera on a pole overlooking the fountain. Does it work? Does anyone ever monitor it?

So come on you young persons, behave yourselves and respect our town centre and perhaps you would not be criticised so much.

Tony Grice, Dellcott Close, WGC.
