Free kids’ golf lessons and a chance to meet animals from a Hertfordshire wildlife park are part of the family fun on offer at a fundraiser for a Welwyn Hatfield-based charity.
The Willow Senior Golf Classic tournament takes place at Hanbury Manor Marriott Hotel & Country Club, Ware, over the August Bank Holiday weekend.
And there will be plenty of family entertainment planned for Saturday, August 25 and Sunday, August 26, including Golfzilla and animals from Paradise Wildlife Park.
There’s also free admission for all spectators to watch the Willow Senior Golf Classic tournament on August 24 to August 26, with the Kids Zone open on the Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 5pm.
Willow life president Bob Wilson said: “The third annual event sees the continued partnership with Hanbury Manor which, like our own Special Days, offers quality time, bringing smiles to people’s faces.
“A unique opportunity for the whole family – with child-friendly activities alongside the top level golf set in the impressive grounds of Hanbury Manor.
“Funds raised are a lifeline for Willow, enabling us to support many more young adults at a time when they most need it.”
The Willow Senior Golf Classic featured two Pro-Am golf days on Wednesday, August 22 and Thursday, August 23, raising funds for Willow.
The Staysure Tour three-day championship tees off today, where budding amateurs will line up alongside Staysure Tour professionals.
These include defending champion Barry Lane, who won the event last year after carding the lowest round in Senior Tour history.
He shot a 12 under par round of 60 on his way to a new 54-hole record of 22 under par.
That secured him a cheque for more than £50,000, finishing five strokes clear of Scotland’s Gary Orr.
With an increased prize fund of £370,000 on offer at this year’s tournament, Lane will be looking for back-to-back Willow Senior Golf Classic titles.
The Staysure Tour was formerly known as the European Senior Tour.
Free to spectators, the three-day championship welcomes golf fans hoping to spot the stars and watch the action, with the Kids Zone running on the final two days.
Previous Willow Senior Golf Classic events raised a phenomenal £270,000 for the national charity providing much-needed funds to support seriously ill young adults during a difficult time.
