Welwyn Garden City and Hatfield Rotary clubs expect to raise around £8k after another successful walking fundraiser.

The annual Rotary Walk 2017 offered people the opportunity to raise money for their favourite charities by walking/running either 11 miles, six miles or two miles.

Participants were asked to contribute a quarter of the proceeds to the Rotary clubs’ chosen charities.

This year’s event – which started at Welwyn Garden City’s Campus West car park on Sunday – is expected to have raised between £7k and £8k.

Ray Wilson, who helped organise the fundraiser, said: “It went very well. We had about 120 walkers, the weather was kind to us and the blue bells were magnificent.

“We had groups from Willow, Jubilee House, Home-Start and a lot of other people just walking for smaller charities.”
