Vote with your feet and see musical Hairspray in Potters Bar

With elections looming, Potters Bar residents are being urged to ‘Vote Tracy’.
The candidate in question is not standing for Parliament or Hertsmere Borough Council, but starring in Green Room’s forthcoming production of musical Hairspray at the Wyllyotts Theatre in the town.
Cast members have been drumming up support for the show with ‘Vote Tracy’ rosettes, in a nod to lead character Tracy Turnblad.
Sophie Sawtell, who takes on the lead role of Tracy, said: “We’ve had a bit of fun in the last few weeks promoting the show.
“With the impending election we’ve produced ‘Vote Tracy’ rosettes.

Green Room chairman Alastair Woodgate said: “Hairspray delivers an honest message about friendship, self-respect and sticking to your ideals.

“But it’s also about having fun for, in the ultimate spirit of musical theatre, the thing which unites everyone is the ability to dance and sing together.”
The show opens at the Wyllyotts Theatre, off Darkes Lane, on Tuesday, May 5 and runs until Saturday, May 9.
