Singer Sam Buttery, a finalist from the original series of The Voice UK, has joined the touring stage show as its special guest following a busy year acting in film and theatre.

After being mentored by Sir Tom Jones in The Voice, Sam went on to star in a production of the musical Taboo, playing a role originally performed by writer and producer Boy George.

Prior to joining Viva la Drag!, Sam also appeared in the feature film Child 44 with Gary Oldman and Tom Hardy.

Viva la Drag! comes to the Gordon Craig Theatre, in Stevenage, on Thursday, March 27 at 7.45pm.

Producer of Viva la Drag!, Michael Taylor, said the production showcases Sam’s amazing voice.

He said: “Mentored by Tom Jones in the televised finals of the The Voice 2012, Sam won the nation’s hearts with his passionate performances.”

These included renditions of Adele’s Set Fire to the Rain, Elvis Presley’s A Little Less Conversation and Erasure’s A Little Respect.

Dubbed ‘Samarotti’ by his family – a consequence of performing operatic tunes as a four-year-old – Michael says Sam’s vocals and keen sense of humour are a perfect fit for Viva la Drag!

Tickets for the show at the Stevenage Arts And Leisure Centre, in Lytton Way, cost £21, and concessions £19.
