EastEnders favourite Jake Wood will be going to Blackpool next week after avoiding the dance-off in the Strictly Come Dancing week seven results show.

The 10 remaining couples took to the dance floor last night (Saturday) with a trip to the mecca of dance, the Blackpool Tower Ballroom, in their sights.

Jake and professional partner Janette Manrara finished joint second from bottom on the judges’ leaderboard with 27 points for their rumba to Strangers In The Night.

However, the public voted to keep the snake-hipped actor from Tewin, who plays Max Branning in the BBC One soap, in the competition for another week.

Tennis coach Judy Murray and dance partner Anton Du Beke also avoided elimination, despite being bottom with the judges.

Instead, the two couples who faced the dreaded dance-off tonight (Sunday) were Alison Hammond and Aljaž Skorjanec and, somewhat surprisingly, Caroline Flack and Pasha Kovalev.

TV presenter Caroline and Pasha had scored 31 for their waltz to Three Times a Lady by The Commodores on Saturday night.

That was four more than Alison and Aljaž got for their charleston, and after dancing again, the judges elected to keep Caroline and Pasha in the show.

Afterwards, Janette Manrara (@JManrara) tweeted: “That was a close call! So shocked to see that @carolineflack1 was at the bottom! THANK YOU for helping @mrjakedwood & I get to Blackpool!!”

Welsh singer Katherine Jenkins performed live on tonight’s Remembrance Sunday results show.
