EastEnders favourite Jake Wood is through to Week 7 of this year’s Strictly Come Dancing competition after DJ Scott Mills took his last spin on the dance floor and exited the ballroom battle.

Snake-hipped Tewin talent Jake and professional dance partner Janette Manrara scored 29 for their paso doble to Black Betty by Ram Jam on Saturday’s live Strictly show.

That placed them in the middle of the judges’ leaderboard, which was topped by Frankie Bridge.

However, Jake, who plays Albert Square bad boy Max Branning in the BBC One soap, avoided the dreaded dance-off in the Strictly results show, viewers voting in enough numbers to keep him in the competition for another week.

Taking to Twitter, Janette Manrara (@JManrara) tweeted after the show: “We’re through!! Yay! THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH! So grateful!! @mrjakedwood, another week of dancing w/ you! Can’t wait for our rumba!”

After the viewers’ votes had been added to the judges’ scores, Scott Mills and Alison Hammond found themselves in the bottom two celebrities.

Alison Hammond and Aljaž Skorjanec scored 26 on Saturday night for their American Smooth to Wuthering Heights by Kate Bush, while BBC Radio 1 DJ Scott Mills and professional partner Joanne Clifton performed a foxtrot to The Addams Family Theme in the Halloween spooktacular.
