Another eight bands have been added to the Slam Dunk Festival bill in the fourth 2016 line-up announcement made by organisers.
Promoters of the touring pop punk, ska, emo, metalcore and rock extravaganza today (Wednesday) added The King Blues, a Shikari Sound System DJ set, Moose Blood, The Amity Affliction, The World Alive, Chunk! No, Captain Chunk!, Gnarwolves and Catch 22 to the festival’s 10th anniversary line-up.
The festival will rock Hatfield’s University of Hertfordshire Forum Hertfordshire site on Bank Holiday Monday, May 30.
Slam Dunk North takes place in Leeds city centre two days earlier, with the Midlands leg at Birmingham NEC on Sunday, May 29.
The latest additions join Slam Dunk main stage headliners Panic! At the Disco on the bill.
Of Mice & Men, New Found Glory and Four Year Strong are also down to play.
After splitting up in 2012, The King Blues will be making a welcome return to the festival.
The political punk/ska band were an important fixture on the UK scene and they will return to Slam Dunk after supporting St Albans’ Enter Shikari on their current arena tour.
Singer Itch said: “We’re super excited to be back and playing Slam Dunk for the first time in years.
“We can’t wait to get back and party for three days straight with you all.”
If anyone will bring the party to Slam Dunk Festival, it will be a DJ set from Shikari Sound System.
Normally known for Enter Shikari, frontman Rou Reynolds said they “can’t wait to introduce Slam Dunk to Shikari Sound System”.
He added: “If you like low frequencies, the ones that make your innards quiver, and you like high energy electronic music come down and jive. Maybe even pull out a foxtrot.”
Moose Blood sold out the London date of their upcoming UK tour in a matter of hours, and they are looking forward to returning to the Slam Dunk arena.
The band said: “We loved playing Slam Dunk last year, it was crazy for us.
“We feel so fortunate and excited to come back this year.”
Another band to fly the international flag will be The Amity Affliction, an Australian force to be reckoned with.
Having two ARIA number one albums in their homeland, this will be the band’s first appearance at Slam Dunk.
Melodic singer Ahren Stringer said they are “super excited to play Slam Dunk and share the stage with so many bands we’ve grown up listening to and playing with”.
Other bands announced are ska legends Catch 22, Arizonan metalcore quintet The World Alive, who will release new album this spring, along with pop-punk label mates Chunk! No, Captain Chunk!.
Finally, skate punk band Gnarwolves will also appear.
“We’re really looking forward to coming back to play Slam Dunk for the third time this year,” said the band.
“It’s always boozy and brilliant, plus we get to watch Capdown and hang out with our mates.”
Tickets for all three legs of Slam Dunk are on sale now priced £42, or £47 including after-party.
The festival is for age 14 plus (festival only) or 18 plus for the after-party tickets.
