SHERLOCK Holmes is coming to investigate gruesome goings-on in Welwyn Garden City.

Following the critical and box office success of Hatfield-born Guy Ritchie’s movie blockbuster featuring Robert Downey Jr and Jude Law, and the recent hit BBC1 series Sherlock starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Brookmans Park resident Martin Freeman, Baker Street’s most famous detective will be at the Barn Theatre next month.

Brought to shivering life by playwright Simon Williams, The Hound of the Baskervilles plays at the Handside Lane theatre from October 8-16.

Perhaps Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s most celebrated novel, the tale focuses on the ancient curse terrifying the Baskerville family,

Holmes and trusted sidekick Dr Watson take on their most famous case and race against time to save Sir Henry Baskerville from the curse of the Hound from hell.

The Barn is pleased to be staging one of Sherlock Holmes’ most famous mysteries at a time where he is so much a part of popular culture.

Director Adam Dryer said: “Simon Williams’ modern adaptation of this well-loved play is a fresh take on an old classic.

“It is fast-paced and full of humour and thrills. Don’t miss out on seeing this wonderful show.”

The play starts at 8pm, with a matinee performance on Sunday, October 10 at 2.30pm.

Tickets for all nights are 10 and are available from the Campus West box office on 01707 357117, online from the Barn Theatre website (see link above), or from the Barn box office on each performance night.

Group discounts are also available.
