This year’s sold-out Pumpkin Trail and Treats at Knebworth House was a fantastic success, say organisers.

Families enjoyed playing games in the gardens of Knebworth House, such as Witch Hats Hoopla and exploring the Terror Tunnel, which the team had created in the pergola.

The daily fancy dress competition was one of the highlights of the event.

And this year there were some superb costumes from both children and adults.

Glenda Daniel, Knebworth’s newly-appointed education officer, officiated at the judging.

She said: “I was thrilled to play a part in this year’s judging of the decorated pumpkins and costumes.

“There was an incredible amount of effort put into the creation of costumes and there were some very original ideas.

“The standard was high which made choosing winners very difficult.”

First prize on Thursday went to Madeira from Stevenage, and second prize to Lucy from Welwyn, who also decorated the day’s prize-winning pumpkin.
