Live cannon fire, Napoleonic cavalry displays, a spectacular fireworks finale, a Spitfire flying overhead and The Red Devils – that’s just some of the entertainment on offer at Saturday’s Battle Proms concert in Hatfield.

The Battle Proms series is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year and Saturday evening’s picnic concert in the grounds of Hatfield House promises a night to remember in the Queen Elizabeth Oak Field.

The Parachute Regiment Freefall Team – better known as The Red Devils – will be dropping in on the occasion around 6.50pm.

The Jazz Spivs are due to take to the stage 15 minutes later to warm up the crowd.

A gun salute by the English Field Artillery Company will herald the arrival of the Grace Spitfire overhead and the start of the main musical programme performed by the New English Concert Orchestra.

The music will be accompanied by more than 190 cannon.

The classical concert will finish with a dazzling fireworks display around 10.30pm.

Adult tickets for Battle Proms cost £38 if booked until midnight the day before the concert.

They are £43 on the day, subject to availability.
