Hoo’s Kids Book Fest Summer Day will take place just across the county border north of Harpenden in the majestic grounds of Luton Hoo on Wednesday, July 29.

And organisers have arranged two very special children’s book events.

Award-winning children’s book illustrator Steve Antony will be drawing Mr Panda, doughnuts and the Queen’s Hat.

There will also be a celebration of JK Rowling’s Harry Potter books at a fun and interactive event for all the family.

The two events will take place in the Luton Hoo Walled Garden from 11am to 3pm.

First up is pandas, doughnuts and the Queen’s handbag with Steve Antony from noon to 1pm.

Since his first picture book debuted last year, Steve has become the hottest talent around.

His first book, The Queen’s Hat, has been shortlisted for the Waterstones Book Prize and has just won the Evening Standard’s Oscar’s First Book Prize.

Learn to draw a panda who loves good manners (and doughnuts!), read stories together and get a sneak peek of Steve’s next book, The Queen’s Handbag.

Boy. Wizard. Hero. Celebrating the Harry Potter Books will enthral youngsters from 2pm to 3pm.

Have you ever wanted to explore the magical world of the Harry Potter books?

Join the ‘Professor of Potter’ and his plucky assistant as they bring to life the characters, creatures, spells and adventures from Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.

There will be certificates and postcards for all who attend.

Artists Vanessa Stone and Livi Gosling will also be running workshops in the magical surroundings of the Walled Garden.

Vanessa will be cutting up materials and involving children in something very spectacular, while illustrator Livi, who loves creating amazing maps, will help with the interactive fun

Professor Pango Mango, the Wandering Poet, will also be making kids laugh with his wonderful words and delightful ditties.
