Frozen fever will be coming to Knebworth House later this year when The Luna Cinema returns to the Hertfordshire stately home.

Frozen Sing-along (PG) will open three nights of film screenings in the grounds of the Lytton Cobbold’s family home, in front of a crowd of 2,500.

Knebworth House will also play host to huge screenings of Back to the Future and Mamma Mia! this September.

One of the highlights of the Luna 2015 season will be the Frozen date at the gothic mansion on Friday, September 11.

The icy adventures of Elsa, Princess of Arendelle, and her younger sister, Princess Anna, need little introduction.

The record-breaking Disney animation is based on The Snow Queen by Hans Christian Andersen and has taken more than $1billion globally at the box office.

And, of course, it features that song – Let It Go by Idina Menzel.

When the newly-crowned Queen Elsa accidentally uses her power to turn things into ice to curse her home in infinite winter, her sister, Anna, teams up with a mountain man, his playful reindeer, and a snowman to change the weather condition.

The sing-along screening at Knebworth House will give the 2,500 audience members the perfect chance to belt out Oscar-winning song Let It Go, and enjoy the exploits of Elsa, Anna, Olaf the snowman and Kristoff.

The ABBA-inspired Mamma Mia! (PG) is the Saturday night movie under the stars at Knebworth House, with Back to the Future (12A) being screened by the UK’s largest producer of outdoor cinema on Sunday, September 13.

Doors each night will open at 6pm, with the films starting around 7.30pm, depending on the conditions on the night.

Mamma Mia! The Movie is based on the hit stage show about a bride-to-be trying to find her real father, told using hit songs by the popular Swedish group ABBA.

Set on a picturesque Greek island, the film version has an all-star cast headed by Meryl Streep, in the role of single mother Donna Sheridan.

Pierce Brosnan (Sam Carmichael), Colin Firth (Harry Bright), and Stellan Skarsgård (Bill Anderson) play the three possible fathers to Donna’s daughter, Sophie, played by Amanda Seyfried.

Julie Walters and Christine Baranski play Donna’s friends, and former members of Donna and the Dynamoes, Rosie and Tanya.

Starring Michael J. Fox as Marty McFly and Christopher Lloyd as mad scientist Dr Emmett Brown, 1985 sci-fi adventure comedy Back to the Future features a time-travelling DeLorean car.

Directed Robert Zemeckis, teenager Marty is accidently sent 30 years into the past by his friend, Dr Emmett Brown, in a plutonium-powered DeLorean.

Marty must then make sure his high-school-age parents fall in love in order to save his own existence.

While The Luna Cinema’s line-up across the country includes picks from the latest crop of blockbusters and award winners, including Birdman, Guardians of the Galaxy, The Grand Budapest Hotel, which is being screened at Hatfield House, and The Theory of Everything, the programme also features classic films and fan favourites, with nostalgic highlights including Dirty Dancing, Some Like it Hot, Grease, Groundhog Day, Labyrinth, The Big Lebowski and Ghostbusters.

George Wood, founder of The Luna Cinema, said: “When I produced my first open air cinema screening in 2008 in Dulwich Park, I had no inkling that open air cinema would ever become so popular in Britain.

“People told me I must be bonkers for investing in an outdoor screen given the unreliability of our weather.

“Seven years and thousands of screenings later, any doubts have long since evaporated.

“The British public have proven that they are more than willing to brave the elements to enjoy a much-loved film under the stars.”

As always, Luna audiences are welcome to bring along picnics and drinks to screenings.

However, all events will also have hot food for sale and a full bar on site.

Premium tickets are available at all screenings, which as standard include a seat in prime position in the arena, a drink at the Luna Bar and a gift bag supplied by DoubleTree by Hilton.

Ticket prices for Knebworth are £13.50 for adults and £9 for children. Premium tickets are £26.
