Thousands of revellers enjoyed Balearic beats with an orchestral twist as Classic Ibiza made its debut at Hatfield House.
Classic Ibiza’s final performance of the summer took place in the grounds of Hatfield House on Saturday evening – and promoters were delighted at the turnout and feedback.
Lisa Ward, director of Revival Productions, organisers of Classic Ibiza, said: “What an incredible evening!
“We’ve managed to double the size of the Hertfordshire audience this year so we’re obviously doing something right.
“What I really like about Classic Ibiza is that it caters for all the family.
“When I looked out at all the smiling faces in the crowd you could see that everyone, whether they were six or 60, was having a fantastic time.
“Thank you Hatfield, we hope to see you again next year!”
Classic Ibiza, with dance music pioneers Ministry of Sound, thrilled party-loving concert-goers at the Hertfordshire stately home with a heady blend of Balearic beats, performed live by the Urban Soul Orchestra, DJ Goldierocks and a host of globally renowned vocalists.
The concert in the Queen Elizabeth Oak Field in Hatfield Park took the audience on a rollercoaster ride of some of dance music’s most iconic tracks and brought to a close Classic Ibiza’s seven-venue tour of the UK.
The first half of the show was a relatively chilled-out affair, where the audience relaxed over a glass of bubbly, enjoyed their picnics or danced along as the sun began to fade behind the beautiful backdrop of the Hatfield House estate.
The concert organisers were struck by how many family groups attended the event.
The tracks in the first half were: Moments in Love (Art of Noise), Les Nuits (Nightmares on Wax), Little Fluffy Clouds (The Orb), At the River (Groove Armada), Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad? (Moby), Unfinished Sympathy (Massive Attack), So Good to Me (Chris Malinchak), Pacific State (808 State), Waves (Mr Probz), Missing (Everything But The Girl), Children (Robert Miles), Barber’s Adagio For Strings (William Orbit) and Something Good (Utah Saints).
The first half was then followed by an interval where DJ Goldierocks, aka Sam Hall, turned things up, getting the crowd into the mood before the orchestra and vocalists returned to the stage to perform some real dance-floor fillers, accompanied by an amazing laser show.
The tracks in the second half were: Pjanoo (Eric Prydz), Insomnia (Faithless), Easy/Superstylin’ (Groove Armada), Groovejet (Spiller), Found A Cure (Ultra Naté), Lady (Modjo), Sing It Back (Moloko), Music Sounds Better With You (Stardust), One More Time (Daft Punk), Show Me Love (Robin S.), Rhythm is a Dancer (Snap!), You Don’t Know Me (Armand van Helden), Let Me Be Your Fantasy (Baby D), Call On Me (Eric Prydz), Blind Faith (Chase & Status), Born Slippy (Underworld), Sandstorm (Darude), Titanium (David Guetta Ft. Sia), Don’t You Worry Child (Swedish House Mafia), Levels (Avicii), Out of Space (The Prodigy), Hey Boy, Hey Girl (The Chemical Brothers), Touch Me ft. Cassandra (Rui Da Silva), Rhythm of the Night (Corona) and Free (Ultra Naté).
Stephen Hussey, conductor and founder of the Urban Soul Orchestra, said: “Wow! What a way to bring the curtain down on our seven-venue tour of the UK.
“It was fitting that we were all treated to an amazing sunset during the second half of the show.
“Going by the reaction of the crowd, we’ve really hit the spot with this year’s set-list, but we will definitely want to freshen things up to make next year’s concert even better.
“We’ve got a few ideas that we are knocking around already, so watch this space!”
