An award-winning jazz vocalist will be entertaining music lovers in Welwyn Garden City this evening (Sunday).

The Georgia Mancio Quartet plays Herts Jazz Club in the Terrace Suite, at the Hawthorne Theatre complex, from 7.30pm.

An award-winning jazz vocalist and lyricist, Georgia has proved herself one of the UK’s most original, inventive and important new artists.

She has worked with Alan Broadbent, Bobby McFerrin, Sheila Jordan and Bobby Wellins, played residencies at Ronnie Scott’s famous jazz club in London’s Soho, produced four albums and runs her own highly-successful international voice festival, ReVoice.

A performer of pure class and integrity, Georgia has proved herself a true improviser with an unfailing flow, innate musicality and a boundless and bold imagination.

Her music embraces her Anglo/Italian/Uruguayan background. She seamlessly performs in five languages, interpreting Fats Waller, Chick Corea, Pat Metheny, Tom Waits, David Bowie, Kenny Wheeler, The Beatles, Brazilian samba, Chilean folk and Italian pop, often with her own beautifully crafted lyrics.

Joining Georgia at Herts Jazz Club will be Tim Lapthorne on piano, Julie Walkington on bass and Dave Ohm on drums.

Tickets cost £3 in advance for students, £8 for Herts Jazz Club members, £10 concessions and £11 full.

Walk-ups are £5 students, £9 members, £11 concessions and £13 full.
