The Scottish pop rock band will play Newmarket Racecourse on Friday, July 28.

Fronted by Sharleen Spiteri, Texas have sold more than 35 million records since storming the charts with debut single I Don’t Want a Lover back in 1989.

Since then they have had three UK number one albums, including White on Blonde, and 13 top 10 singles including hits Say What You Want, Black Eyed Boy, Halo, Summer Son and Inner Smile.

They recently released their ninth studio album Jump On Board, which catapulted the band back into the top 10 once again.

Texas said: “We are really excited to headline Newmarket Racecourses on July 28. It’s going to be fun a night.”

Amy Starkey, regional director of Jockey Club Racecourses East Region, said: “We are pleased to announce Texas as our final act to complete the line-up of music events at Newmarket Racecourses this summer.

“We look forward to welcoming Texas back to the Adnams July Course for the first time since 2011 on Friday, July 28 for what will no doubt be a fantastic evening of racing and musical entertainment.”

Following on from Little Mix’s sell out of general admission tickets last week, many of this summer’s Newmarket shows are set to follow suit in the coming months.
