Two fireworks displays at Welwyn Garden City school for Bonfire Night

Harwood Hill JMI School presents its fireworks extravaganza on Friday, November 3, 2017.

Gates open at 5.30pm and there will be two displays at the school in Harwood Close.

Run by the Friends of Harwood Hill, the school’s PTA and a registered charity, the first display – a low noise, younger child-friendly all zoom, no boom display – will start at 7pm.

This will be followed by the main display at 7.30pm.

As well as the fireworks, there will be food stalls, a licensed bar, hot drinks, a sweet shop and more to raise money for the school.

However, no alcohol, fireworks or sparklers are to be brought onsite.

Tickets are available online in advance as the event has proved very popular in recent years.

Adult (17 years plus) tickets cost £6 and children’s tickets (4-16 years) are £4.

A family tickets, for two adults and two children, cost £16.

Three years and under go free.

All children must be accompanied by an adult and supervised at all times.

The Friends of Harwood Hill (FOHH) website advises buying tickets in advance as the event has sold out for the past two years.

The PTA website states: “We sold out in 2015 and 2016, and sadly had to turn many people away. Which is why we’re selling tickets in advance, online this year.

“We recommend you buy your tickets now to avoid disappointment.

“In the event that we do have any tickets left on the night, we may decide to sell them on the gate.”

Alison Hockley, of the FOHH committee said: “There’ll be a great family atmosphere, a choice of food stalls, a licensed bar, a sweet shop, and other fun stalls, all to raise money for Harwood Hill Primary School.

“Last year, we made £5,000, which has been spent on a variety of much-needed resources and experiences for the children, as well as going towards our exciting plans to create Outdoor Learning and Library space in the school.

“We’re hoping to make a similar amount again. But most of all, we want everyone to come along and have fun.”
