Hertford’s George Ezra will headline an outdoor concert at Newmarket Racecourses this summer.

The Budapest singer will play Newmarket Nights on Friday, August 17.

The former Hertford Regional College student is the latest artist announced for the 2018 Newmarket summer season.

Amy Starkey, Regional Director East of Jockey Club Racecourses, said: “We are very much looking forward to welcoming George Ezra to the Newmarket Nights stage for the first time.

“George has been a firm favourite of the festival circuit for a few years, so we are delighted he will be joining our sizzling hot music line-up this summer.”

George Ezra is one of the biggest selling male artists of the decade.

His debut album Wanted On Voyage is certified 4x platinum in the UK, gold in the US, and was among the top 10 biggest selling artist albums in this country in both 2014 and 2015.

It reached number one in the Official UK Chart and spent 122 weeks in the chart overall.

In little more than 18 months Ezra went from virtual unknown to one of the international breakthrough artists of recent times, taking in a top 10 album in 10 countries, three sold-out UK tours, nominations for four BRIT Awards, one BBC Music Award and an Ivor Novello.

He’ll be releasing his highly anticipated sophomore album Staying At Tamara’s on March 23 via Columbia Records, available to pre-order now.

George Ezra joins the previously announced James Blunt (Friday, June 29), Craig David (Friday, July 20) and Plan B (Friday, July 27) on the Newmarket Nights bill, with The Vamps headlining the popular Summer Saturday Live on August 25.
