Harwood Hill JMI School’s annual charity fireworks event will take place on Friday, November 2 – and promises to be bigger and better this year.

There will be a child-friendly, ‘all zoom, no boom’ low noise show at 7pm.

The main display will then start at 7.30pm.

As always, the event is run by the school’s parent and teacher association, the Friends of Harwood Hill (FOHH).

Alison Hockley, chair of FOHH, said: “As before, we’ll have two spectacular fireworks displays, by the same professional company we’ve used for the last three years, to sell-out success.

“There’s always a great family atmosphere, and we have a bigger choice of food stalls, including a barbecue, pizza, cajun food and churros.

“A licensed bar will sell beer, wine, mulled wine, hot drinks and non-alcoholic drinks.

“Indoors we’ll have fun games and stalls selling everything from sweets to books, as well as activities, slime making, sand art and rock decorating.”

Apart from the professional firers, everyone is a volunteer.

All profits will go towards the Hertfordshire school’s outdoor learning and library project.

“We’re hoping to beat our record profit of £4,000,” added Alison Hockley.

“Anyone who comes along can also see the new library that we built using funds raised from the last three fireworks events.

“It’s standing proudly on the school field and will be used as a meeting point and first aid centre.”

Gates to the school in Harwood Close, WGC, will open at 5pm.

Tickets for the fireworks display are on sale now online via harwoodhillevents.co.uk

A family ticket – for two adults and up to two children, or one adult and up to three children – costs £17.

Adult tickets (over 16s) are priced £6.50, and it is £4.50 for children aged four to 16.

Entrance is free for under-threes.

This year’s event is being run in association with sponsors Bellway and HG Construction.
