AN impressive spell of 3-16 by Knebworth Park Under-16 bowler Tom Elliott came too late to stave off defeat at the hands of Old Owens on Saturday.

The rapidly improving youngster removed three of the top four batsmen as the Potters Bar side slipped from 106-1 to 137-4.

But thereafter Owens were largely untroubled on a docile track to win the Saracens Herts League Division Five match by six wickets with 197-4.

Graham Fisher had earlier bowled accurately in taking 1-61 and Jack Thorn, who made an early breakthrough, took 1-28.

Ian Pickering held the Knebworth batting together with 81 runs.

Adrian Holmes (20), Josh Roseberry (23) and Jono Evetts (25) also all pitched in with useful contributions.
