HERTS Phoenix veteran thrower Ian Miller took part in three major competitions last month.

He won gold at the British Masters Weight Pentathlon at Barnet Copthall throwing the hammer (33.07m), shot (10.25m), discus (28.31m), javelin (32.64m) and weight(13.32m) to finish with 3,478 points.

At the British Masters Individual Championships in Derby Miller collected more gold medals. He secured gold in the hammer (31.91m), the shot (10.36m) and the weight (12.77m).

The Herts Phoenix ace secured another trio of gold medals at the Eastern Vets Championships held at Sandy in the hammer (31.77m), shot put (10.28m) and the discus (29.99m).

June was a relatively quiet month for Miller with only two major events, both in Derby.

Unfortunately, the weather conditions were extremely cold and made it difficult for all competitors.

At the throws pentathlon he took top spot after competing in the hammer (33.85m), shot (10.24m), discus (29.92m), javelin (33.16m) and weight (13.07m) to finish with 3,573 points.

There was another gold for Miller at the John Howard Memorial Decathlon.

In the 10 events he threw the stone (9.02m), hammer (33.78m), javelin (29.97m), discus (29.56m), mini shot (14.16m), weight (17.68m), sling ball (36.47m), shot put (10.06m), club (29.43m) and the one handed hammer (27.03m) to finish with a winning points tally of 4,969.
