WGC through to Ransom Cup final again

In the event for two fours, WGC beat the Whit Hern club from Cheshunt in the semi-final.

The WGC four of Tom Stevenson, Alan Evans, Neil Sharp and Gordon Avery won 24-11 at home.

In the away match Alan Cox, Doug King, Les Brown and Ian Stone triumphed 23-12, giving an overall score of 47-23.

WGC beat previously undefeated Oak Hill by four match points to two in the County League.

Tom Stevenson, Tony Parkhouse, Alan Evans and Gordon Avery won by six shots but Doug King, Mick Stephen, Les Brown and Ian Stone lost by three shots, but WGC claimed an overall win by 32-29.

WGC beat Castles by four match points to two in an East Herts League match last Friday evening.

Castles were placed second in the league but were defeated on overall shots.

Ray Avery, Dave Rathbone and Ian Stone were successful on their rink.

However, Ernie Reed, Richard Griffiths and Keith Price lost theirs.

In the Welwyn Hatfield League, WGC B lost to Parkside on both rinks and by 38 shots to 32.

Pam Ball, Tom Stevenson and Dave Rathbone lost 18-15 on the last end and Vera Joyce, Elaine King and Doug King went down 20-17.

WGC beat Luton's Wardown Park by three rinks to one and by 98 shots to 93.

Top rink was Vera Joyce, Ron Jeanes, Ray Avery and Colin Avery.
