WGC'S 3rd XI collected just one bonus point from their Saracens Herts League Division Six opener against Letchworth on Saturday.

The home side posted 185-6 from their 53 overs and WGC were dismissed for 134 in reply to return home from Fairfield Hall with not much to show for their efforts.

WGC won the toss and inserted Letchworth on a slow and wet pitch.

Dan Mileham and Pat Lynch both bowled well and after 20 overs Letchworth were struggling at 40-2.

The introduction of Saad Shaukat set the home side further back and after 40 overs they were 100-5.

However, the final 13 overs were a disaster for WGC.

Some poor fielding and good batting from Bridge and Morse saw the hosts finish on 185-6.

Lynch and Shaukat were the pick of the bowlers with 3-44 from 16 overs and 2-21 respectively.

The chase started well with Leslie Meyer and Matt Walters putting on 41 for the first wicket.

Meyer fell on 42 and after Terry Edwards and Steve Willis had put on 25, WGC found themselves on 71-3 with 17 overs remaining.

Zig Dolan (34) and Ian Tanner had a good go but with the dismissal of Dolan and bizarre run out of Lynch, WGC's chances ended and they fell to defeat.
