WGC were comprehensively beaten 5-2 away to Winchmore Hill & Enfield in the NE14HOCKEY East Men's League Division 3SW on Saturday.

After losing out on a share of the points in the previous week's game, WGC were looking for a positive result in North London.

Captain Rob Sansom and vice captain Mark Skilbeck were both away, so skipper for the day was goalkeeper Richard Leighton.

With two other prominent first team players missing, the Key People sponsored side called up regular replacement Kevin Leighton, as well as Richard Winter and Peter Mullens.

Both sides started brightly with some some end to end play before the home team took the lead following a penalty corner.

Charlie Southey levelled soon after and then scored again to put his side ahead.

Before the break, the Winchmore team equalised to make it 2-2 at half-time.

It was the home side that were the fastest out of the traps after the break and they scored two quick goals.

WGC hit the crossbar as they pushed for goals to get back into it.

However, 10 minutes before the end the home side scored their fifth and final goal.

WGC entertain Stevenage 2nds on Saturday hoping to return to winning ways.
