WGC'S Under-14 Colts got home by three wickets with two overs to spare against their Bishop's Stortford counterparts.

Bishop's Stortford's batsmen came flying out of the blocks, scoring 58 runs in the first 10 overs.

They lost only one wicket during that spell to a sharp catch from Alex Chalker off Bobby Debaere's bowling.

But once the dangerous Harry Brooks was dismissed for 41, the last 10 overs went for only 30 runs and Stortford finished on 88-9.

That was thanks to some good, accurate bowling by David Nolan, Liam Mitchell (3-12) and Alex Chalker (3-9).

A steady start was required by the Digswell Park boys and that was achieved by openers David Nolan and Luke Walsh putting on 24.

But wickets fell at regular intervals until Alex Chalker steadied the ship with 15 runs.

And with the help of Max Tann and Andrew Bacon, he saw WGC home to 89-7 with two overs to spare.
