WELWYN Garden City prepared for the start of the HCPL Division One cricketseason with a friendly victory against Wembley.

Wembley batted first and were all out in 40 overs. Wickets were shared around between all the bowlers. Aaron Laraman, James Scott and Paul Barker claimed two apiece with Louis Champion, Daniel Cope and Andrew Moscrop completing the rest between them.

Welwyn Garden City knocked off the runs in 15 overs with Champion adding another 50 to his season’s tally and Scott, again looking good, adding an unbeaten 20 to his previous week’s efforts. The only dismissal was skipper James Hewitt for a quickfire 20.

On Saturday Welwyn Garden City begin their season with an away trip to Banbury.
