WELWYN siblings Sophie and James Mabbs will represent GB in the World Biathle Championships which are being held in Dubai in November.

Throughout the year the two children have actively participated in many Biathles, a race which comprises two of the basic elements in a continuous format of Modern Pentathlon (run-swim-run), both across the UK as well as in Europe.

Sophie, aged nine, 2012 winner of the Girls Youth E Biathle World Tour and 2012 GB Series delivered a superb performance at the National Championships held at Salford Quays in July and qualified to represent Great Britain at the forthcoming World Championships. Older brother James, 10, also gave a strong performance at Salford Quays and secured his place in the GB team too, as well as achieving silver medals in the Youth E Boys World and GB Tours.

Having competed in rough sea water temperatures of 11 degrees (without wetsuits) in Weymouth earlier this year, the prospect of racing in sea water temperatures of 29 in Dubai is appealing to these young athletes, although with air temperatures close to 40 degrees the conditions will not necessarily be ideal for racing.
