Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council are delighted to announce that they will be supporting the national campaign “This Girl Can” and boost its impact at a borough-wide level.

The aim is to offer a 10-day period specifically dedicated to increasing female participation in sport.

This 10-day period would encourage women and girls to get more active, be more active or try a new sport or physical activity.

The club wishes to encourage local sporting partners, clubs, venues and schools to embrace this initiative and open their doors by way of offering female-friendly taster sessions, open days, courses and competitions and raise the profile of sport for women and girls.

If you are interested in participating, come along to the club’s “women and girls’ summit” in the Collingwood Suite, Gosling Sports Park between 7-9pm on Thursday, May 12.

The summit will directly follow the Welwyn Hatfield Sports Physical Activity Alliance AGM.

During the summit meeting you will have the opportunity to hear from some keynote speakers, giving you a better insight into national opportunities for women and sport.

You will also have the opportunity to engage in an interactive workshop, allowing you the opportunity to help Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council shape the 10-day programme and ensure there are a range of opportunities and plenty to inspire women and girls across Welwyn and Hatfield.

To sign up and get behind this exciting initiative, email sport@whtimes.co.uk or ring 01707 357168. Deadline for entries is Tuesday, May 3.
