Defending champion Alison Waters is through to the quarter finals of the National Squash Championships in Manchester after a convincing 11-4, 11-1,

11-3 win against Lucy Beecroft.

Waters is seeded to meet rival and world number three Laura Massaro, who also had a comfortable victory, in Sunday’s final.

The Welwyn Garden City squash sensation’s next challenge is two-time national champion Jenny Metcalf in the last eight.

Metcalf beat Rachel Chadwick over four games to progress.

Waters said: “I’ve already won four national titles but I’d love to get my hands on it for a fifth time,”

The Commonwealth Games bronze and silver medallist for doubles and mixed doubles won her first national title in 2008, with her other wins coming in 2010, 2013 and 2014.
