WELWYN Garden City's men's hockey team were unlucky as they fell to a 5-4 defeat against local rivals Harpenden 2nds.

This means the side have reached the halfway point of the season with their third loss, in a match in which they were never in front.

Things could have been different if Lady Luck had been on Welwyn’s side.

An excellent cross from Charles Southey into the Harpenden D where Rob Sansom threw himself full length to fire the ball goalwards, only to see his effort rebound off the post and that would have tied the game up at 5-5.

However it wasn’t to be, and it was Harpenden 2nds who collected the victory points, 5-4.
