Welwyn Garden City grind out trophy success

Welwyn Garden City Bowls Club won the county-wide Grinder Cup.

It was a resounding finish to a very successful season for Welwyn Garden City Bowls Club.

Sunday saw the County Ginder Cup played at Garston Bowls Club.

This saw the winners from the County Leagues from the East, North, South & West playing against each other.

In the semi-final WGC, representing the South, played Buntingford, representing the East and picked up a 43-29 victory.

Tony Seeby, Keith Ames, Stewart Parkhouse and Bryn Evans won their rink 18-7 with Chris Avery, James Avery, Neil Sharp and Gordon Avery winning theirs 25-22.

The final saw WGC play Baldock, representing the North.

Chris Avery, James Avery, Neil Sharp and Gordon Avery lost 21-15 on their rink but a 27-15 success for Tony Seeby, Keith Ames, Stewart Parkhouse and Bryn Evans gave WGC the overall victory by 42 shots to 36.
