Jess Walklin and foreign imports in the Premier League have one thing in common - they both need schooled in who their rivals are and what the clashes mean to the fans.
The Southern League Division One Central has a very different look to the last couple of prematurely-ended seasons, with the clubs up in the West Midlands replaced by far more familiar teams - Hertford Town and Colney Heath among them.
The skipper said: "The league has changed a lot and I’ll miss those games [against the likes of Corby Town, Halesowen Town and Bedworth United] because I like the trips.
"I’m not a local lad anyway so I don’t really know about the rivalries. I’m like a foreigner in the Premier League, I need to have them explained to me.
"But we should have a chance. We’ve been well set in the last few seasons so with that and having the same team, we should be up there again.
"The nucleus has stayed and Ben Spaul is a really good addition. We’ve got a really strong team and there are a good crop of young players coming through from the U23s."
