WELWYN & District Bowls Club's men beat Hitchin over four rinks on Saturday by 87 shots to 69.

The top rink for the home team was that of Reg Jackson, John Atkins, Ralph Pedder and Bob Wells with a 25-10 victory.

A match was played at Welwyn & District the following day to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the St Albans & District Bowling Association. The visitors won by 110 shots to 93.

The host club won on one rink by 22 shots to 19 skipped by the club captain Nigel Woor, with Graham Daniels, Andy Scholes and Chris Read.

St Albans BA president Alan Brittain presented the Ottway Walk club with a plaque to celebrate St Albans & District Bowling Association's half century.

Welwyn & District travelled to Barton-le-Clay the same day for a six mixed triples match.

Barton won by two shots, 101-99. Top triple for Welwyn was Sylvia Hill, Nigel Noel and Sybil Noel by 22 shots to 11.
