WELWYN & District Bowls Club were beaten 92-84 in a five triples match at home to Riverain.

The top triple for the hosts was that of Sylvia Hurrell, Tony Holdcroft and Arthur Knight with a 22-13 win.

Three ladies' triples travelled to Northaw and Cuffley last Thursday evening.

The team left in torrential rain at home but arrived at a sunny dry venue.

Unfortunately the weather did not help the Welwyn team, who lost all three triples.

Welwyn hosted six mixed triples from Whit Hern last Saturday, losing by 136 shots to 93.

The home club did manage to draw on two triples.

Mary Wills, Robert Ducat-Brown and Daphne Pedder tied 18-18 and Colin Duxbury, Olive Perry and Ralph Pedder finished 20-20.

It was triples again on Sunday when a team of six triples travelled to Cheshunt.

The three men's triples won 59-49 with a top trio of Arthur Knight, Tony Holdcroft and Malcolm Baldwin taking glory 28-16.

The ladies lost on all three triples by 78 shots to 38.
