WELWYN & District Bowls Club members are urging potential players to come and try the sport with them this coming weekend.

The club are holding an open day at their green in Ottway Walk, Welwyn Village between 10am and noon and 2pm to 4pm this Saturday.

Invitations to visit the club's facilities and to experience outdoor bowling are extended to anyone looking for a new sport combined with a great social life.

All the equipment you will need on the day will be supplied, just attend one of the sessions with flat-soled shoes and be prepared to enjoy your time at the club.

Four qualified coaches will be in attendance, including the club's chief coach, Diana Barrett, supported by Mary Clements, Ron Howard and Lucy Ratcliffe.

The coaching team will introduce visitors to the basics of bowling and ensure they enjoy the experience.

These coaches have a programme of training sessions over the next five months to assist any new members to improve their bowling skills.

For more information and to find out more about the day telephone Welwyn's membership secretary Diana Tribe on 01727 826499.

Extra information about the club can be seen on their website at www.welwynbowls.co.uk
