LEWIS Hamilton will start Sunday's Bahrain Grand Prix from the third row of the grid.

The 24-year-old reigning F1 world champion from Herts was fifth fastest earlier today at the Bahrain International Circuit.

McLaren Mercedes driver Hamilton clocked 1 minute 34.196 seconds in the third part of qualifying to achieve his best starting position of the season.

Qualifying at Sakhir was dominated by Toyota, with Italian Jarno Trulli taking pole ahead of team-mate Timo Glock.

Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel, winner of last week's Chinese Grand Prix in Shanghai, will start third with championship leader Jenson Button fourth quickest.

Button's Brawn GP colleague Rubens Barrichello will start sixth on the grid alongside Hamilton.
