SUCCESS continued for league champions Welwyn Warriors as they also lifted the South of England Men's Lacrosse Association six-a-side intermediate trophy.

Warriors, who have already won promotion to the Premier Division of the Southern Men's Lacrosse League, dominated the SEMLA tournament at Banstead.

Welwyn, who had completed their league season with 18 wins from 18 matches, dominated their three group games against Blues, East Grinstead and Southampton University.

The first half of the final was keenly contested with Welwyn taking a 3-1 lead into the break.

Welwyn started to take control of the game in the second half and went on to beat Cheltenham Cougars 7-2.

In the minor section of the competition, Welwyn's second team were unlucky not to qualify for the final.

Having beaten Reading, Southampton seconds and drawing with Brighton University, they missed out on winning the group by a single goal.
