Herts Mavericks head coach Sam Bird knows a difficult upcoming three-game run against teams in the top four will be a real test to her unbeaten Superleague side.

The Hatfield-based outfit defeated Yorkshire Jets 51-38 on Saturday to make it four wins from four games so far this season.

However, Mavericks host fellow unbeaten side Manchester Thunder on Saturday, before a tough encounter at Team Bath on Monday and then a clash with defending Superleague champions Surrey Storm at the Copper Box Arena as part of London Live the following weekend.

Bird said: “I am definitely pleased to have won four from four giving us a good platform for the tougher matches to come.

“If we can produce our best play more frequently we will be a force to be reckoned with.”
