Now in its fourth year, the sports awards recognise and reward sporting achievement and endeavour across the borough.

There are 10 categories in which to nominate candidates.

The nominees will be invited to a glittering awards ceremony at the Campus West Theatre, Welwyn Garden City, on the evening of Thursday 17 February 2011, where the winners will receive their prizes.

The event has been organised by Welwyn Hatfield Borough in partnership with the Welwyn Hatfield Times and the Welwyn Hatfield Sports and Physical Activity Alliance (WHSPAA).

Councillor Darren Bennett, Welwyn Hatfield Sports Champion, also urged residents to keep sending in their nominations, saying: “The awards are not far off now, and the nomination closing date is even nearer, so please don’t forget to champion deserving sporting talent or an unsung hero working behind the scenes for a sporting accolade!”

To nominate, complete the form online or download it from the Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council website, using the link above right.

Alternatively, call Matt Rayner, Youth and Sports Partnerships Manager at Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council on 01707 357174.
