NICK Faldo this morning returned to a golf course full of memories as he teed off in the 2013 Open Championship at Muirfield.

The 55-year-old from Welwyn Garden City won two of his three Open titles at the Lothian links course, in 1987 and 1992.

Although he has been all-but retired since 2007 and played very little competitive golf, he competed at the 2009 Open at Royal Birkdale and 2010 Open at St Andrews, but failed to make the cut on both occassions.

It really is a trio of golf legends who teed off at 9am this morning (Thursday), with Faldo alongside one of the greatest links players of all time, Tom Watson, and World Golf Hall of Famer Fred Couples.
