MORE than 50 enthusiastic young golfers took part in the Mill Green Tiger Club April medal competition.

Golf tricks were displayed by a couple of the talented members on the day.

Proving that practice can improve your skills, Ben Warne walked a room while managing 128 flick ups with a golf ball.

Sam Nicholls also showed how to flick a ball and then stop it on his club.

Head coach Ian Parker said: "These skills give great co-ordination to the player."

Warne's skills were rewarded as he collected the Top Tiger Trophy for dedicated practice, while Harry King received the Pro's Prize.

Returning Tiger member Matt Ready won the Morgan Trophy for the lowest gross score of the competition - a fine 29.

He was beaten by one shot in the Premier Division by Callum Walker, who carded a nett 27.

Martin Tuck took the Paul Davey Trophy for lowest nett score with a round of 17.

"These medals are getting more popular each month and the standard of golf is amazing to watch," added club pro Parker.

Any youngsters wanting to begin to play golf should sign up to one of the Young Masters Golf courses being run next month or later in the year.

The next course starts on June 15 with others planned for over the summer holidays.
