An up and coming badminton star from WGC has had a successful outing at the Webber U15 Silver Tournament.

Holly Clayton teamed up with Letchworth’s Leona Lee for the first time at the Milton Keynes event and the pair came away with a gold medal in the women’s doubles.

They gained confidence through three successive wins, all in straight sets, to take a place in the semi-finals against Pranathi Koneru (Bucks) and Grace Lee (Devon).

Another straight sets win to see them through to the final where a 15-7 15-7 success over Jasprit Marr (Middlesex) and Saffron Morris (Wales) brough them gold.

Clayton was also entered in the girl’s singles where she made it to the semi-finals.

Unfortunately there she bowed out to Aditi Bhat of Worcestershire, who went on to win the tournament.

However, the run was good enough for Clayton to claim a bronze medal.
