Success for Bar ladies against WGC

POTTERS Bar's ladies scored a comfortable victory over their WGC counterparts.

The hosts won the derby match by 11 shots 43-32 thanks to the efforts of Maggie Woolmer, captain Josie Massey and Eileen Anchor.

They won 27-13, which more than compensated for the narrow 19-16 defeat for the other Potters Bar rink of Margaret Baldwin, Beryl Burbridge and Anne Throup.

Potters Bar went down by six shots at home to Northaw & Cuffley, losing 58-52.

They did have a winning rink of Beryl Burbridge, Iris Gees, captain Josie Massey and Anne Throup, who won 19-15.

However, Hazel Thurgood, Joyce Houghton, Eileen Anchor and Pat Thompson lost 20-13 and Jean Stokes, Brenda Thomas, Pam Rodgers and Eileen Bryan were beaten 23-20.

There was better luck in a three rink triples match at home to Arnos Grove two days later.

Potters Bar's ladies ran out emphatic winners by 31 shots.

The biggest win can on the rink of Brenda Thomas, Maureen Neal and Eileen Anchor, who scored a 29-5 victory.

Eve Fenwick, Hazel Thurgood and Eileen Bryan also has a good result, winning by 16 shots to eight.

Val Capstick, Jean Stokes and Anne Throup narrowly missed out by one shot but Potters Bar won 59-28 overall.
