After last week’s abandonment, Welwyn Garden City’s star striker Ollie Reynolds and his 15 stitches naturally sat out their home clash with Bedford.

But he had plenty to enjoy with WGC putting on a clinic in ruthless counter-attacking hockey as they won 5-1.

WGC started perfectly, soaking up the Bedford pressure and jumping up the other end as quickly as possible, eventually culminating in a goal for James Fowler.

A short corner made it 2-0 before half-time, Bryn Evans getting the final touch.

Dan Klinger in the WGC goal kept Bedford at bay early in the second half and from another short corner Dan Hatt made it 3-0.

Bedford did pull a goal back to briefly trouble the hosts but with time running out great work by Mark Skilbeck gave Hatt his second and there was still time before the final whistle for Evans to dispatch a Hatt pass into the bottom corner and match him on two goals.
